• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains many conveniences aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
